Finding the treasures of the Ba’al Shem Tov

We will travel in Ukraine. We will make a physical journey along the places where the Hasidic rabbi’s lived and worked, and an inner journey, in which we process their teachings, and learn how to apply them in our own lives.

We will visit synagogues and other buildings, mikwe’s and graves of the rebbe’s, and walk, sing and meditate in the woods where the Hasidic rebbes walked, sang and meditated. We will learn about their biographies, study their texts, sing their nigunim, hear  their stories, and meditate and pray in their styles.

Contemporary Jewish life will not lack either. We have several encounters in the program.

We will start our journey with the Ba’al Shem Tov, the mystical master who founded Hasidism. We will visit his most important students: rabbi Ya’akov Yosef van Pollonoye who wrote down many of his teachings, and the Magid van Mezhiretch who spread Hasidism by sending his students to different regions. We will visit another student of the Ba’al Shem Tov, rabbi Pinchas van Koretz, meet rabbi Zusya van Hanipol who belonged to the circle of the Magid, and rabbi Moshe Chaim Ephraim van Sudilkov, grandson of the Ba’al Shem Tov and student of the Magid and of rabbi Ya’akov Yosef van Pollonoye, who explained the teachings of his grandfather. All belong to the first generations after the Ba’al Shem Tov.
